Nov 19, 2014: A workshop entitled ENTREZLA was held at Department of Biotechnology, Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University, Fatehgrh Sahib (Pb). Workshop offered valuable tools to shape the thinking process of the students.
The aim of this workshop was to bring youth researchers and the faculty together and to inspire the students to take up careers in the emerging field of sciences. The workshop was officially inaugurated by the Dean Academic Affairs Prof. Kanwaljit Singh.
He discussed about the scope of Biotechnology in various fields. Nearly 75 students from senior secondary schools of different areas participated in the workshop. The students were made aware about the basic and applied research carried out in the department. The faculty members of the Department actively participated in the workshop and shared several valuable information in the field.
During this one day workshop, several research modules like rDNA technologies, plant tissue culture, protein expression studies, Nano biotechnology and the microbial world were covered. The participants also got hands on practice on the research experiments.
The workshop culminated with the knowledge exchange between the student researchers and the faculty. The student of M.Tech., and M.Sc. Biotechnology also actively participated in the workshop. Several questions from the participants which indicated the curiosity and interest of the students towards Biotechnology were raised. The student participants enjoyed the workshop a lot from the feed back we received from them.
